Welcome to the Native Hawaiian Education Council website. We hope this site can be utilized as a resource by educators, policymakers, and all community members interested in improving the quality of education for our keiki.

The Education Council was created under the terms of the Native Hawaiian Education Act and is responsible for ‘assessing, coordinating, reporting and making recommendations’ on the status of Native Hawaiian education.

Two Hawaii Schools Make First-Ever Green Ribbon List - Ewa Middle School in Ewa Beach and Hawai'i Preparatory Academy in Kamuela, Hawai'i Island

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan announced the first-ever U.S. Dept. of Education Green Ribbon Schools Monday, two of which are located in Hawaii.

The Ewa Makai Middle School in Ewa Beach and the Hawaii Preparatory Academy in Kamuela made the list of 78 schools nationwide.
